…I heard people, grownups and children, running in the street behind my house. I heard the barking and howling of the neighbor's dog. As usual, the morning of disappearances, there was an agitation in the air…
They all watched the river in silence.
But, it was all too strange, and too beautiful to be a simple river. The day before, it was just a course of water with no interest…
The surface of the water was entirely covered with fragments of red, rose or white. It was difficult to ascribe a quality to the assortment of colors. There was no free space on the surface. These fragments, seen from above, had such a sweet quality, overlapping and moving more slowly than the habitual course of the water…I kneeled, I plunged my hands into the water. My hands were full of petals who remained stuck to my palms...
Not a single petal was withered or faded. To the contrary, and thanks indubitably to the cool freshness of the water, the petals were vital and brilliant. Their perfume, mixed with the soft morning mist which floated over the river, was almost unbreathable.
above and below several pieces by street artist "Fred le Chevalier"

For those who love Haruki Murakami!
This is an island where orchestrated disappearances occur and where most of the inhabitants are incapable of remembering things once they have disappeared from sight. Only certain individuals are gifted with the ability of memory and those individuals are made by certain authorities to disappear.
Yôko Ogawa is intrigued by the concept of "memory" and the effect of capacity or incapacity for this quality on the human psyche.

kweejibo stories takes july break
I chose Yôko Ogawa's novel "Cristallisation secrète" to translate into English because there is no official English translation of available, which is to me, is a lot like not being able to listen to anything on vinyl anymore.
